A Letter of Thanks
Dr. B.,
Raymond (Heart Transplant-1991) and I would like
to express our satisfaction and appreciation for Raymond being selected
to participate in the research study of Ultrafiltration using the
new ultrafiltration machine manufactured by CHF Solutions, Inc.
Soon after his heart transplant, Raymond was diagnosed
with renal cancer and one kidney was removed. Since that time, he
has been renally compromised and we have had to pay special attention
to his creatine level along with a concern for edema.
In October 2002, he was admitted to an ICU unit
and he received the then, current standard treatment for severe
edema. This procedure required Raymond to be restricted to his bed
and he was like that for 5 days. When Raymond had his transplant,
he was a patient in the ICU unit for 33 days due to complications
and he is never psychologically comfortable in an ICU unit since
that time.
The Ultrafiltration machine is a vast improvement
in treatment. Raymond was treated for 8 hours for two consecutive
days. During this time he was a floor patient and he was able to
move about his room and also to walk in the halls. He had an admit
creatine of 4.8, a discharge creatine of 4.1 and a follow up creatine
of 3.9 on 9/29/03. Raymond had 22 pounds of fluid removed in two
days.
I was very impressed by the Clinical Field Specialist
for CHF Solutions, Inc. He was present for the treatment on both
days. As a retired teacher, I felt that he was excellent in instructing
the nursing staff on the set up and operation of the CHF System.
Raymond and I believe that the CHF System is
a vast improvement in treatment and would encourage any hospital
to include it as standard treatment for patients.
We would like to thank you for considering Raymond
as a candidate for this study along with thanking you for your excellent
continuing care for Raymond. He is talking about returning to deer
hunt this year so we know that he is doing better.
